Brett Harris

Provisional Psychologist

Brett is a Provisional Psychologist completing the Master of Psychology (Clinical) (Advanced Entry) at the University of New England. He holds a Master of Professional Psychology and is registered with AHPRA under supervised practice.

Before training in psychology, Brett spent more than a decade as a government lawyer and policy lead. That experience honed his analytical skills and deepened his appreciation of how systems shape people’s lives—insights he now brings to therapeutic work.

Brett’s clinical interests span the lifespan, with particular interests in anxiety, stress and meaning-centred wellbeing. He values understanding each client’s unique perspective and strives to create a welcoming environment where clients feel heard and supported.

He integrates evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed principles, tailoring each intervention to the client’s goals and values. Brett also has a keen interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and increasingly relies on ACT principles to help clients build psychological flexibility and live in line with their values.

Outside the clinic, you’ll often find Brett trying his best to train for his first HYROX race or unwinding with a good podcast and coffee—activities that keep him grounded and energised for his work with clients.

Brett will be seeing clients across the lifespan during his placement from July to October 2025.
